DHDL update

The equipment has now been installed for the Digital Humanities Distributed Lab. Two existing lab spaces at Avenue have been revamped. Digital Humanities Lab 1 (65/1085) has 9 imacs setup for time based media creation and editing. There is also a wall mounted screen and an apple TV to allow sharing of content from the imacs and other apple devices. DHDL update

The Digital Humanities Distributed Lab (DHDL) student design team have now had a few meetings and a few proposals for technology are on the table. ProposedĀ technological components include: Pre-configured and usually-on webcam systems in DH rooms, for broadcasting lectures and multi-disciplinary seminars and for promoting serendipitous encounters at other times; Wall-mounted LCD touch screens will provide DH activity updates and message-boards. Digital Humanities Distributed Lab

sotonDH gained funding from the Student Centredness fund to integrate spaces in the Faculty through online technology to create a single distributed lab. This is now being expanded to connect to other facilities at Highfield currently (music and computer science), and WSA. Social media technology will be tailored to offer students involved in Digital Humanities the opportunity to collaborate and share activities. Continue reading →

Student Centredness Project Success – Digital Humanities Distributed Lab

We learned today that we were successful in funding for the development of a Digital Humanities lab.Ā The application was focused on developing the existing Southampton digital humanities community via web and interaction technologies and will be led by sotonDH postgraduate students.
